Getting Started & General

What is a data breach?
A data breach occurs when unauthorized individuals gain access to a system and expose sensitive information — such as email addresses, passwords, phone numbers, or financial data. Breached records often circulate online after an incident. OsintCat lets you search whether your information appears in known breach datasets, so you can take action (change passwords, enable 2FA, etc.) to protect yourself.
Can I look up someone else's data?
No. OsintCat is designed for users to investigate their own data or to conduct research with explicit legal authorization. Looking up personal data belonging to another individual without their consent is prohibited by our Terms of Service and may violate applicable privacy laws (including GDPR). Legitimate use cases include cybersecurity research, fraud prevention, or licensed investigative work — all subject to proper authorization.
What are my rights under GDPR?
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the following rights regarding your personal data we hold: (1) Right of Access — request a copy of your data; (2) Right to Rectification — request correction of inaccurate data; (3) Right to Erasure ('right to be forgotten') — request deletion of your data; (4) Right to Data Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format; (5) Right to Restrict Processing — limit how we use your data; (6) Right to Object — object to processing based on legitimate interests. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.
